Bariatric surgery with a single trocar offers a real advantage!

Surgery with a single incision (so called SILS method: "Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery") is often possible in simple cases such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy and laparoscopic gastric banding for morbid obesity.
The incision takes place in the umbilicus, so that it becomes barely visible after one month post-operatively. There are obviously advantages in terms of post-operative pain and aesthetics, although one cannot claim that this would be a "totally painless and scarless surgery". On the other hand, even visible scars tend to fade away over the time in any patient post-operatively, except in some with a tendency to thick scars.
