Two new and attractive operations are now available in France:
- Surgical Gastric plication (Laparoscopic Greater Curve Plication or LGCP): This technique represents a match to the typical surgical laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, the stapling of the stomach being replaced by a running and "covering" suture of the greater curvature of the stomach, thus invaginated on itself, or sort of duplicated. No gastric tissue has been sacrificed, which makes this operation reversible (by simply taking out the stitches), and it entails less risks of gastric leaks causing haemorrage or peritonitis/abscess, that are common risks after sleeve gastrectomy.

- Endoscopic Plication: A selective restriction is achieved through natural orifice (oral way), by targeting the upper part of the stomach mostly. The stomach has then less capacity to expand itself during a meal. Deep folds are created inside the gastric lumen thanks to multiple small anchors. No incision is made, and the patient can be discharged very quickly. The weight-loss that has been achieved in pilot international studies (UK, Spain, USA) is interesting, around 40% of excess-weight within one year. Moreover, risks are almost none, and a further surgery is still possible.
